How to Make Clothes

Clothes are a group of encircling variety of fabric that covers the human body. Wearing clothes is a trait of all human beings. The basic purpose of clothing is to prevent THE BODY from external elements. It protects humans during dangerous activities like hunting; it works as a barrier between the skin and the environment. Clothes act as effective barriers it protects the body from any kind of viral or bacterial transmission.

Clothes have some significant social and culture purposes such as, a uniform, can be recognized as a civil personalities, like police and army employees, it is also identified as team or group, politician affiliations.  Clothes can also be featured as a status of the society, such as norms of modesty, social status and religious purpose. Earlier, lots of materials have been used for clothes, like natural and synthetic fabrics, leather, and fur to stitch fabrics. In this article we will learn how to make clothes from cotton.

Procedure:

  • First of all, take apart the fibers from the cotton seeds. In factory, gins are used for this job, but you can use your hand to separate the seeds from fibers.

  • Now you will have to card the picked cotton. Load a hand carder with cotton and hold it with you other hand.

  • Brush the right hand carder over its teeth; keep repeating this process until the fiber is equally distributed in two cards

  • Now place all the fiber to one carder, place the bottom edge of one carder against the handle edge of the other, and position the ends of the fiber onto the teeth of one carder.

  • Now lift them up to move them to one carder.

  • Keep repeating the first step of carding process and follow with the second step the fiber becomes airy and light.

  • Repeat the first step of the carding process and pursue with the second step until the fiber become light and airy.

  • Now to create your rolag, roll down the fiber toward the handle of the carder.

  • Spin rolags by using spinning wheel or charkha, drop spindle. Because Cotton fibers are very short, and they need a lot of twist.

  • Keep the “yarn” (fiber) little kinking, as it can winds onto spinning wheel bobbin or drop spindle shaft.

  • Once you finished with spinning, knit or weave the cotton yarn into cloth. Industrial cotton producers have massive looms to weave fabric, and circular machine to knit tubes cotton cloth. But at home you can use your knitting needle or a small weaving loom.

Cotton mills industries generally buy their raw materials (cotton) from large cotton farming operations across the world. If you want to make clothes at home then you can look for local producers, they sell small quality of raw material and they are really affordable.
