A model is also referred to as mannequins. A model is an individual who is an employee for the fashion clothing or for advertising a product. The model is supposed to display and advertise the product or artwork of people.
They are also known for making appearance in acting, dancing or any kind of public performance. However, making an appearance in the movie is not modeling. In a photo shoot models show emotions on their face for, which many of them consider as actors. The basic job of a catalogue model is to make the picture effective visually, not express vocally.

The ideal body type for a female model according to the British Association of Model Agents should be 34-24-34 with 5 ft 8 inches height. Now a day the models statistics depends on the fashion house they work for.
The male model’s ideal body type waistline should be 26-33, chest should be 32-40, and the preferred height should be 5 ft 11 inches to 6 ft 2 inches.
Here are some steps and tips that will get you one-step closer to being a supermodel.
Steps:
- Check your physical appearance you have to be 5 ft 7 inches or tall to become a model. Your ideal dress size should be 4 (extra small) to 6 (small), your bust size should be 32-35 inch, waist size 22-25 inches, hip size 33-36 inches.
- Find out if you have some unique features. Take extra care of yourself and make sure you have clear and acne free skin, straight teeth and healthy hair.
- To get into the field of modeling you have to be confident, determined and organized. This field will require you to travel many places. You should also know how wisely you should spend your income or invest it. Take rejection in positive way.
- Go to the modeling agencies in your locality and look for an agent who will help you with your profile. You can also go to casting places or model coordinators and submit your portfolio there.
- Always be punctual and professional. Show confidence during auditions.

- The models required for catalogs do not have to 5 ft 7 inches in height. However, they need to be slender. The models for runway have to 5 ft 9 inches.
- teenage or junior models should be at least 12 years old with 5 ft 6 inches tall, with good looks.
- This industry is not at always glamorous as you have long work shifts, travel many places, tough competition to survive in this business.
