A nurse is a person who is involved in the profession of healthcare, in association with the other medical and paramedical professionals. Earlier, nursing profession generally required only hospital-based education, but in the present situation nursing education needs specializations and offers post secondary education in institutions.   • There are lots of options for entering the field of nursing. Nursing can be done with two year of associate degree, and the other courses for nursing are Bachelors in Science, Nursing (BNS). These degrees will help you to take the NCLEX exams, after which you will be allowed to put the initials ‘RN’ after you name.
  • If you are keen to work with a small ‘community hospital’, the course of two year degree is more than enough for you. BSN will help you to get into large organizations.
  • Decide what type of course you want to do, after taking a decision start applying for it. Nursing course includes subjects like biology, chemistry, microbiology, anatomy, chemistry etc. It also has courses like sociology, psychology and other humanities.
  • Be careful while writing your application essay; do not write the obvious thing such as ‘I want to become nurse because I want to help people’. Be innovative with your ideas and write something different and attractive, which holds the attention of the examiners.
  • Gain experience; try to get  internships in good organizations, involve in professional activity, it will have a good impact on your resume.
  • While studying in nursing school or college, try to work as a part time employee in any nursing assistance, it will ensure you a job once you graduate.
  • When you are finished with your first nursing course, you can apply for nursing assistance exam and become certified for this job.

Tips:

  • Science is a heavy program, to brush it up you can take some courses at community intuitions.
  • For entrance in nursing school you should know mathematics, such as conversions, medication administration and calculations.
  • Be strong enough to handle blood, vomiting, and snots.
  • You should have good and effective communication skills.

An nursing course contains half of science and half of arts, so brush up your knowledge of science, as the art depends on your natural ability.
