In todays world there are a lot of ways to achieve fame without spending too much money (well if you do have too much money you are probably famous too). Its pretty easy to be famous but slightly harder to be famous for a positive reason. Although jumping off a building can achieve fame it might not be the best way as you might want to be around when you are famous. The challenge is being able to engage media attention while still being alive and possibly not in jail. Here are some tips which can help you achieve fame. Is there anything in the world that you can be the best at? Buy a few record books, Guinness Book of World Records or the Limca Book of world records might be a good start. Browse through and find any records you can break yourself or something new that isn’t in the book already. This might not be for everyone as this requires you to be actually be good at something. Being really bad at something might work too. The point of this is to be able to find a way to stand out uniquely, and the more the people interested the better. Signing up for a reality show on television is a great way to attract attention.
Be the first to attempt something or do something. Trying out something new is a great way to attract attention. If you live in a conservative society taking a drastic new step can attract attention an make you a revolutionary.
Alternatively be really terrible and horrible at something. Many people achieve fame through being the worst at something. For example certain singers on American Idol are so terrible people stock around to listen to them sing.
Be different. Make your own statement in a crowd of sheep. For example Mahatma Gandhi was a lawyer but his methods were the most un-lawyer like. This could involve breaking rules or living out of stereotype in a stereotype society or living as a stereotype in a messed up society.
Do something epic generous. Raise awareness for a particular cause, always be in front of an awareness march and hog all the media limelight. Run a cross continental marathon for a cause or simply donate lots of money.
Be in the right place at the right time. Saving someones life is a great way to get attention, especially if that someone is famous himself. Be the first to report an unusual event. Or dig up some rare fossils. Any which way you choose you will be in the limelight.
Be a whistle blower or uncover some scandal. Talk to the right people and find some dirt on their seniors, maybe some bribes will help. Worst case blow the whistle on the person who accepted the bribe. Alternatively sue someone big, or a company. Carefully measure the pack of chips you buy and see if the weight matches or sue them.
Be lucky. Win a huge lottery. Or pick the right parents or life partner. Get a girlfriend/boyfriend with high potential (singers, guitarists, activists are good choices).
As a last resort attempt to pull off a large heist or rob a bank. Killing a famous/important person is a sure shot way of attracting attention (although it might not be the kind of attention you are seeking).
