Diamonds are known to humans and have been used for a very long time. The earliest mention of diamonds is seen in India. Diamonds are also used for various industrial applications like jewelry. The hardness of this stone and light dispersion quality is good for using it in jewelry. The most important quality of diamond is it has tremendous shine and light dispersing quality.
Diamonds are used for designing various types of jewelry, but its commonly used for designing engagement rings. The first advertisement on diamonds was in 1900 by De Beers. Diamonds come in various shapes, sizes and colors. It is believed that diamonds were first found and recognized in India at the banks of river Krishan, Ganga and Penner. Diamonds are known in India since 6000 years. Diamonds are precious stones they are also used in religious idols in India. Diamonds became popular in the 19th century, as there was a rise in the world economy. Better advertising was also one of the reasons for diamonds increasing demands.
Cleaning the diamond regularly gives an extra shine to the beauty diamond. If the diamond is unclean then the diamond will lose its shine. If there is dirt, on top of the diamond then it will lose all the luster and sheen. Colors or dyes can also affect the diamond. Cleaning a diamond can be a difficult task as you can use many chemicals on it. The jewelers steam the diamond to clean it. There are also cleansing kits for diamonds with ammonia base.
Here a few tips to clean your diamonds or diamond jewelry.
Ingredients:
- Ammonia solution
- Detergent (preferably mild)
- Dish
- Hot water
- A small sieve
- A soft brush
- Pair of rubber gloves
- A piece of cloth
Procedure:
- To begin with, block the sink by placing a sieve above it. you don’t want to lose your precious jewelry in the dirty sink.
- Pour hot water in the sink and you can wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from the heat.
- Now put a little mild detergent in the water and mix it.
- Place your diamonds or the jewelry in a tiny dish with the solution of hot water and detergent. Let it soak completely for ten minutes.
- After ten minutes take all the stuff from the dish, put it into other dish, which will contain a solution of ammonia. Cover the jewelry with this solution, now let it soak for another ten minutes.
- Now take a brush with soft bristles and rub it gently over the diamonds/jewelry. Make sure that you do not rub it hard or it will leave a scratch.
- Now place the jewelry again in the detergent solution and rub it with your fingers to take the dirt out. After this pour hot water on it, make sure that your sieve is still blocking the drain.
- Let the jewelry dry completely or wipe it with a cloth.
