How to Copy Protect DVD

The need for protecting the data on your DVD arises because you don’t want other users to access the data and/or misuse it in any way. If you have a DVD that has all your personal photos and other data, then you don’t want it to get it into wrong hands. To ensure the safety of your data, you need to copy protect your DVD using some software. This article will show you how to copy protect DVD using different copy protection software.

Whichever, software you buy, the main process of copy protecting the DVD will remain the same. It will start with creating a physical watermark on the DVD during burning. Then, the DVD will have to be encrypted into a “pre-master” version of the final DVD.
How to Copy Protect DVD
Follow these steps to copy protect DVD:

  1. Purchase or download the copy protection software and install it on your computer. Reboot your PC if required.
  2. Now encrypt the DVD and create the “pre-master” folder. Create a new folder in Windows Explorer and name it according to the subject of the DVD.
  3. Copy all your files in this folder and select the files that have to be transferred to the disc.
  4. Right click on the files that have been selected and choose the archiving program in context menu.
  5. Use WinZip application to create an executable (.exe) file. This zipped file will contain all the files that need to be transferred to the DVD.
  6. Keep the .exe file and delete all other files in the pre-master folder.
  7. Click on the icon of the copy protection software that you have downloaded and open it.
  8. Now, add your .exe file to this program by clicking on the “Add Files” or similar button.
  9. In the options menu, you can choose the level of protection.
  10. Select from various options such as Message Error, Select Stealth and CD key request.
  11. If you select CD key request, you will have to use a password or a key to view the data on the DVD.
  12. If you select Message Error, then any user who attempts to access the data will get an error message.
  13. If you have selected the Stealth setting, then the DVD recording process will immediately stop without any error or warning.
  14. Finally, click on the “OK” button to start encryption and burn the encrypted .exe file to a DVD.
  15. You have successfully managed to copy protect your DVD.
