How to Create a Memorial

A memorial is an entity that serves as a center for remembrance of something, generally a ‘late person’ or an event.   The Common types of memorials comprise landmark objects or art items, for example sculpture, figurines, or fountains, and parks.  An example of the most ordinary type of memorial is ‘gravestone’. ‘War memorials’ are also a good example of memorial, which honours those who have died in wars. Memorials which are designed in the form of a cross are termed as ‘intending crosses’.

Online memorials and honors are becoming more and more popular. Online honors and memorials form a way for close relatives from different countries to communicate and share memories and pictures. This is becoming ever more popular as it offers personal space that can be easily reflected upon at any time

When someone dies, the relatives can request that a memorial present, generally money, be offered to a selected charitable trust, or that a tree can be planted in the remembrance of that person.   Sometimes, when a high school student dies, the memorials are established in the form of a scholarship, which is awarded to students who do extraordinarily well in the school. If you want to create a memorial scrapbook then just follow the following steps.
How to Create a Memorial
Things required:

•           Scrapbook with acid free pages

•           Colorful 5 x 8 index cards (acid free)

•           Stickers (acid free)

•           Pictures of your loved one

•           Pictures of family members and pets

•           Scissors

•           Double-sided tape (acid free)

•           Small basket

Instructions:

  • Make a small symbol for the wake. On the symbol, inscribe a message, for example: “Please accept a card and put down a memory you have of your relatives, friends, etc. It can be a memory of a small moment, a comical moment, or a memorial activity. When you are done, keep it in this basket.
  • If you want some more time, you can send an email, a message or mail your card to: ADDRESS.” Include a small basket with plenty of blank cards and a bin for memory cards. Keep these cards close to where people sign the guest book.
  • Assemble photographs of your loved one from your close relatives, friends and your own private collection.
  • Purchase a scrapbook with acid-free sheets. The size of your scrapbook depends on the number of photographs and memory cards you have.
  • Assemble the cards and photographs in the scrapbook.  Find the depiction of the person who addressees the card or image of your ‘late love one’, doing an associated activity as stated on the card.
  • Secure the cards and photographs to the sheets. Insert more memories if you wish. If you believe that a number of people would still like to share their memories with you, then send out an ‘email’ or ’snail mail’ entitled for memories. Your scrapbook will be filled with memories.
  • Include markers and accents with the sheets to have them run together. Consider this scrapbook as a commemorative to your loved one, and place a small TLC into it.

Tips and Warnings

  • On the wake, you would want to have some examples of stuff that you can write on the memorial card from your own personal experience with your loved one. For example, if your uncle passed away, then you can write a card about the time when he taught you how to ride cycle.
  • People love to share their memories, but they need support if they are sharing it for the first time and they are at a wake for this chance.
