How to Do Crip Walk

The Crip walk is a form of dance, which was invented by “Crip Gang” from “Compton”, in the early 1970s. Because of rapper influences, the “Crip Walk” became more prominent on self-broadcasting sites such as “YouTube”. The broadcast of videos, that contain “Crip walk”, was declined by a music channel MTV. The example of crip walk is a “Westside Connection’s” song “Hoo Bangin”, the rapper of Westside Connection can be seen executing the “crip walk”. The basic level of crip walk dance mainly consists of spinning on the balls and heels of the feet. The motion of the crip walk is usually referred as “The V”, and can be executed on either or both feet; the free foot performs more complex motions. The movement is known as “The Shuffle”, which form the basis of “crip walking”. The clown walk is another form of dance, which has evolved from the crip walk. crip walk is often abbreviated as “C-Walk”, which refers to either clown walk styles or crip walk. The slang term ‘Cripping’ or ‘to Crip’ can also refer to the Crip Walk. In this article you will see how to do crip walk.

Instructions

  • Begin the Crip walk, with putting your feet equivalent and shoulder width separately. Bend your knees a bit and relax the shoulders.

  • Jump a bit. While jumping you will leave the ground for a fraction of second, but the crip dance needs the jumping effect to appear perfect.

  • Place the right foot out, just five inches ahead and land on ground, so that your body weight is on your heel of the right foot and the ball of your left foot.

  • Jump again and put your feet to the beginning position. Avoid landing completely flat footed, but always keep your weight either on the ball or heel your feet.

  • Jump for a second time and place the left foot out. Land on ground so that your body weight falls on your heel of the left foot and the ball of your right foot.

  • Jump again, keep the foot to the opening situation, and replicate this process once again. You can combine the order sometimes, as it does not  go right, left, right, left all the time.

  • Start moving as soon as you start performing “C-walk”. While jumping and stepping forward with your right foot, let you left foot follow your right foot forward part of the way. Repeat this process, while stepping forward with your left foot.

  • Attempt to bend your knees as much as you can, particularly when you ARE (you always forget to insert the verb “is”, are everywhere!) jumping back to the “neutral position”. The bent knees are bouncier and therefore make the dance look smoother.

  • Lift your arms up shoulder length while doing Crip Walk. Bend your elbows at about a “90-degree” angle, and your arms should be bouncing freely as you jump.

  • Practice this skill to get a good base. Straighten your legs out sometimes, as long as you do not lose the fluid motion. Jump higher and further after every few minutes to skip a beat.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Crip Walk is the best example of the most famous and easiest hip hop moves. Be optimistic and confident that you can perform this act easily, even if it does not look so good at first.

Always remember that it is a fluid movement. The moment you stop the continuous motion, the dance will appear as a jig. Don’t let this happen.
