A castle is a term derived from the Latin term castellum. It is a kind of fortified building, which was built in Europe during the middle ages. Castle is a private structure owned by the noble men or lords. Castle is very different from a fort; forts were built for defense and safety of people. The term ‘castle’ has been used for hill forts or country houses. Castle is an innovation by the Europeans, and it originated in the 10th century. The structure of the castle was built to give defensive protection from their enemies. Castle is of two types, urban castle and rural castle. The urban castle was built to control the population and maintain all the important travel routes. Rural castle are built near the monuments and natural features, they are considered as important features in the community.
Earlier the castles were built of timber and earth, but later stone replaced them to give better protection. After the 18th century, there was a new interest in the castles along with the construction of mock castles. The castles were built as a part of the Romantic Revival or just to create a gothic structure. However, they never had a military purpose. Drawing castles is easy and fun; you can draw any castle of your choice and interest. Here are some simple and easy steps on how to draw castle.
Steps:
- Do not worry if you don’t know how to draw. You start by drawing three basic rectangles. Make a large rectangle in the middle with two narrow ones standing besides the middle one.
- On the top of the middle rectangle, you will have to add another rectangle. Make sure that the top rectangle is narrow and tall.
- Make some caps on top of the narrow rectangles. They should be in the shape of the triangle, but make curves on the sides of the triangle. Now you have the towers for your castle. Once you have drawn the caps and the three towers, make two more rectangles with similar kind of cap a little behind the two side towers.
- Now, you can start adding details to the large rectangle, which is placed in the middle. Create a kind of dental molding line on the castle. Draw some curved windows on your castle and on the towers. If you want, you can also refer a picture to draw a castle. Draw flagpoles and flags on every tower top.
- In the surrounding of the castle, you can draw trees and bushes. Make a small path, which leads people inside the castle. Now, you will have to draw a drawbridge and a main front door. Always remember that you will have to draw the door, which leads through the moats.
- Make some additional details in the castle; make use of makers and colored pencils to highlight the important details. Add a background to your drawing. Now, the castle drawing is complete.
Tips and Warnings:
- If you want then you can add as many towers as you like. Play with various patterns and try to draw a unique castle.
Make sure that you do not spend a lot of time in just drawing the outline of the castle. Start by practicing the first few times and then, start drawing the final picture.
