Comics are a form of graphic medium, which lets images speak through a sequential narration. The term comic has been derived from the humorous fiction work, and since then, has been applied to this medium. The comic book is well distinguished from the picture book, through its sequential format and pictures with words. Almost all the comic books have words with pictures, and it indicates speech in the form of a balloon. Today one can find comics in magazines, newspapers, graphic novels and on the web. According to some people, comics are still considered as a low form of art. The comic strip is a general sequence of various cartoons and they come together to tell a story. These strip comics were earlier known as strip cartoons.
Drawing comics can be a bit tricky if you are not a professional. Here are some simple and easy steps on how to draw comics.

Steps:
- First, you will have to start planning tour comics before you actually start drawing it. Think of how many characters you will have in your comics. Make rough sketchs with pencil.
- Make a plot and start drawing an outline for the same. Once you have started making the outline, you will come to know how to make a continuous flow in your comics.
- Start plotting your comics, make some rough frames on every page and place them next to each other. Don’t forget to make the rough sketch of your characters. For the lead characters in your comics, make a model sheet. A model sheet will have the drawing of your main characters from two different angles, and it should have all the important details. This will be your reference when you bring a flow in your comics.
- Now, you can start drawing your comics. Take a ruler and draw some frames on a sheet of paper. Use the rough sketches as reference and make sure that you draw the frames correctly.
- Carefully make outlines of the characters in your comics. You should always use the outlines first, since it is easier to correct them later. Take the model sheet and start adding colors to the costumes and their faces. Always remember that you will have to give the same costume and face color to the character in the entire comics. Keep referring to your model sheet.
- Review your work before you proceed further. If there are any problems, it is best to solve them now. Once you have corrected all the problems, you can add the finishing touch to your comics.
- If there are any unnecessary lines in your comics erase them. Darken the edges of your characters; this will enhance your characters. You will understand the background better. Now start darkening the edges of your frame, so that it is easier for readers to differentiate every frame. Review your work for the last time and correct all the errors.
Tips and Warnings:
- While plotting the comics try to use some expensive paper. When you are plotting, the comics make sure that you leave some space for the characters’ conversation bubbles.
