A flame is one of the visible parts of the fire. Flames are formed due to the high emission of exothermic reaction. If the fire is very hot, then there are very high chances of formation of plasma. The temperature and the color of the fuel usually depend on the fuel that is used for combustion. The heat applied causes the molecules in the fuel to start vaporizing. The flame has a very high temperature and it can tear apart the fuel molecules, and form a variety of free radicals through combustion. The electromagnetic radiation increases with the increase in flame temperature. The color of the flame usually depends on various factors; the most important factor is the radiation of blackbody through the flames. Another important factor is the amount of oxygen supplied to the flame and many other factors. All these different factors contribute to the different colored hues in the flame.

Drawing flames is an interesting art form; it is one of the most famous forms of visual art. One can be very creative and add different shapes, textures and colors to the drawing. You don’t have to be a professional artist while drawing flames. Below are some easy steps that will teach you how to draw flames.
Steps:
• Start with making an outline for your drawing. The first steps while making an outline will be to determine the shape of the subject. Try to identify the shape of the image you want to draw. It is very important to know the shape of the flame, since it will help you in drawing an outline. If you are an amateur, then it is suggested that you start with S-shaped flames, since it is one of the easiest shapes. Once you have identified the shape, start with the process of illustration. If you are drawing an S-shaped flame, then always remember that there are many S-shapes and inverted S-shapes. You should also know the S-shape has many curved lines.
• While making an outline start by drawing a small and big S-shape and make a couple of inverted S-shapes. Ensure that you have properly connected all the lines together. Try to avoid gaps between flames. Once you have made an outline, make a horizontal line, which connects the bottom point of the first flame and the last line of the flame.
• Once you have completed the illustration and the outline, start drawing some details in your frame. Always remember that imagination is a very strong tool, while drawing flames. Think about what kind of lines and shapes you want to draw inside of the flame. Come up with ideas that will make your drawing more attractive. You can draw some small flames inside the big ones. Keep in mind that these shapes will determine the movements of the flame. Once you are done with this, then you can erase all the unwanted lines.
• Now, you will have to finalize the illustration. Take some crayons and start coloring the inside and outside areas of the flames. Always remember that the colors used for the outside of the flame should be different from the colors used on the inside. Some colors, which you can use, are the shades of red and orange. The inside of the flame can have a color of yellow or white, however the color of the flame is often blue.
• Make sure that you get all the materials before you start your drawing. Ensure that the paper you are using is clean. You can have a look at some photograph or illustrations of flames as a sample, and then refer it for drawing.
