If your cell phone gets wet:

  • As soon as your phone gets wet, take out the battery of the cell phone as early as possible. This will prevent your cell phone from further damage.
  • Take out the SIM cards. SIM cards contain all the important information that you would not like to lose.  Never attempt to dry the SIM card with any appliance. For example a hair dryer. You just have to pat the card with a dry towel or any cloth. Tissue papers are not suggested but if there is no other option, they can also be used.
  • If there are any external adaptors, or corners attached to your cell phone, please remove those.
  • Remove as much of water as possible from your hand set. Shake it out and use a soft towel or tissue to wipe your handset. Do not put undue pressure on the screen, as this might damage the screen. Wipe the cell phone gently and softly. If you are unable to wipe all the water, you can use a vacuum cleaner.

When you have done all this, leave the handset on a flat surface. Use your handset after 24 hours. Leave it opened only. Do not try to recharge. Do not put SIM card in it.

If the screen of your cell phone is creating problems:

  • There are different products available in the market for scratch removers. You can try those. These are not expensive and are effective.
  • Try putting pressure on the screen of your hand set. Many a time, pixels can create problems to the screen. You can rub the discolored areas with a pen cap. This will disperse the pixels and the screen will look normal again.
  • You can fill cracks and scratches of a cell phone with a small amount of toothpaste also.
  • If the crack is severe, your only option can be to replace the screen.  You can replace the screen on your own. Use a screwdriver to pop up the screen and then replace the old one with a new one.

If your cell phone won’t turn off

  • Sometimes your cell phone just doesn’t turn off. Even if the keypad is not damaged and you have pressed the button for million times, the cell phone refuses to turn off. This might be irritating and frustrating. In this case you should remove the battery of your cell phone and put it back after some time.

If the key pad of your cell phone is not working:

  • Try restarting your cell phone once. If the keypad is not working, remove the battery from your phone. Put the battery again after some time and switch on your phone. This might solve your problem.
  • Reset your mobile if possible. In some devices, you need a number code to reset the device. In that case refer to your user manual. If you do not have a user manual, visit the nearest customer shop.
  • Cleaning the keypad can also solve the problem. Try cleaning the keypad. Do not use hard material for cleaning. Use a soft tissue or cloth to serve the purpose.

Try these above methods to fix your cell phone at home and save a lot of time and money.
