How to Fix Code 39

Code 39 is basically the error code caused when CD or DVD ROM drive is unable to display. Code 39 is a kind of system error. If there is a problem in communication between the peripheral device and the Operating System, then there occurs an error. Error code 39 indicates that there is a problem with the CD or the DVD drive which can be fixed easily if you know how to fix code 39.

Drivers are responsible for communication between the operating system and the external devices attached to the system. They help in driving the information from the devices to the operating system. If these drivers are corrupt, missing or not compatible with the peripheral devices attached to your system, then code 39 error is displayed on your screen. This error may also be caused because of the registry problems or malware in the system.
How to Fix Code 39
There are three ways to fix error code 39 which are discussed below.

Using device manager

You can directly access the device manager in your system and fix this error following the steps that are discussed below. You need to update the driver settings from the device manager. This is the easiest method to fix code 39.

Step 1: Right click on My Computer. This will open a list of actions that can be carried out.

Step 2: Now, select the device manager button in the hardware tab. This will open the device manager window.

Step 3: In this device manager window you will find the icon of CD or DVD drive that consists of a yellow exclamation mark besides it.

Step 4: Select either CD or DVD drive, whichever you want to fix, and right-click on it. Select the option update drive from the list of options displayed. When you are done with this, follow the step-by step instructions that follow.

Using registry editor

This method of fixing code 39 is quiet complicated and requires a good understanding and expertise of working with computer systems. Changes done to the registry of your system using this method are irreversible and any mistakes done while removing the keys can lead into more complications. Perform the following steps to fix code 39 using registry editor.

Step 1: Initially close all the applications that are running on your system.

Step 2: Click on the start button, select run and run the command Regedit here. This will open the registry editor or registry console in your system.

Step 3: Click on the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE”. You will find this folder in the left panel of your computer.

Step 4: In this folder click on “SYSTEM.” and then on “CurrentControlSet”.

Step 5: When you have clicked on “CurrentControlSet” you will find a “Control.” option here, click on it.

Step 6: Clicking on control option will display few more options, click on “Class” and then click on the key “{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}”.

Step 7: Delete the registry entries LowerFilters, LowerFilters.bak, UpperFilters and UpperFilters.bak if they exist under this key.

Step 8: Now, you can restart your PC and check whether this error is fixed. To check, simply open My computer and check to see whether the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive is visible now.

Step 9: If you open the device manager you will notice that the error message stating that windows cannot load the device and corrupted or missing driver and the yellow exclamation mark are not visible now.

Using a registry cleaner

You can also use a registry cleaner to fix this error. Registry cleaners are available online and can be easily downloaded from the internet and used to fix any registry related errors in your system. You can scan your computer to locate any invalid entries or registry errors and fix them using a registry cleaner.
