How to Get a Save in Baseball
To get a save in baseball you will need some things; these are:

  • Baseball team
  • Playing field
  • Good pitching arm
  • Opposing team

Steps:

  • The first step involved in getting a save in baseball is actually winning the game and at the same time ensuring that the pitcher threw the last pitch for the winning team.
  • You must also make sure that the pitcher who is trying to earn the save is not the winning pitcher. The winning pitcher is the one who starts the game and gets the team in the lead position. To get a save you should hold on to the lead, which essentially means that another pitcher from the team has to be the winning pitcher.
  • The most important thing for getting a save is to ensure that you maintain the lead. If at any point during the game, you lose the lead, you will not be credited with the save.
  • If you want to be credited with a save you must pitch for at least a third of the entire innings. This also ensures that you don’t throw the final pitch with the aim of trying to earn a save.
  • You must meet at least one of these three conditions that have been listed above, if you want to earn a save in baseball.

Save rules have changed a lot over the years and keep changing even now. A blown save is credited to a pitcher who enters the game in a situation where he can earn a save. This, however, does not include entering in the game before there has been on out in the seventh inning. A tough save happens when the pitcher enter the save situation which already has the tying run on base, but still manages to get the save.

You just need to keep the above points in mind and be careful about the time you choose to enter the game, if you want to successfully get a save in baseball.
