A donation is a “gift or “charity” arranged by physical or legal personality. Donations are done typically for charitable purposes and to benefit a cause. A donation can be done in different forms, such as services, money, and goods (like, toys, clothing, food, and vehicles). Instructions:
- Call up the local “Commerce Chamber” to take out a list of organizations and area businesses in your own city. Note down their contact number, address, and the main contact person.
- You can research in yellow pages for area businesses. Go through businesses like retail shop, restaurants, beauty shops and many more. Look through the area church index too. Note down all the given information.
- Make an information sheet, and explain the cause or organization and why you are collecting donations. Mention for what the donation will be used. And what are the future financial aims of your organization.
- Try to contact the local business and organizations and chamber of commerce. Explain your cause to them and ask when you can speak to manager, chairman or business owner regarding your donation collection.
- Distribute flyers in your own society in public areas like grocery stores, libraries, schools, laundry mats, and any popular vicinity within your area.
- You can also go to newspapers or magazines, explain them about the fundraiser. You can also submit a press release, if you have one.
- Send an email to all your friends and family members, mentioning that you are seeking a donation. Ask them to spread the word to their friends and relatives.
- Try to convince people for donation, tell them the cause for donation. Be honest and good hearted.
- Have patience, and wait for all of your hard work, and people to reply. Give your plan lots of moral support.
Tips and warnings:
- To add some excitement to make others donate for your cause, you can arrange a small gift for certain amount of donations given. Such as, you can offer a gift vouchers from a restaurants or shopping mall, retail shop, salon etc.
