Air conditioner is considered as a home application, mechanism or system, which is specially designed to remove heat from a particular area. The cooling process is done with a general refrigeration cycle. In the terms of construction, an entire system of air conditioning is known as HVAC. The basic purpose of air conditioner, in a room or an automobile is to give comfort during the cold or hot weather. The air conditioners used for rooms usually come in two different types: packaged and unitary terminals. Unitary is the most common room air conditioner. There is central heating as well, which is done through various ducts, and it distributes heat in the entire room. The functions of a central conditioner are similar to normal conditioner, but it has many added functions.

Things Required:
- Caulking gun
- Waterproof caulk
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Air conditioner
- Mounting hardware
- Foam insulation
- Screws and screwdrivers
Steps:
- Decide the place you want the air conditioner and measure that place properly. You will have to buy a conditioner according to your room size. The conditioner should be able to cool the entire room from where you place it.
- Decide the place where you want to fix the air conditioner and measure that portion of the window. The air conditioner, which you are planning to buy, must fit the window size. Always remember that all air conditioner’s have different sizes.
- You will get a few mounting brackets with the air conditioner, start installing them. Make sure that you do exactly what the instruction’s manual tells you to do.
- Carefully, take the air conditioner and slide it into the window, and fit it exactly in the brackets, which you have fixed. Always remember to follow the instructions manual.
- Roll your window down on top of the air conditioner and pull the extensions on the air conditioner. Attach all these extensions on the window carefully.
- You will get a piece of foam with the air conditioner, take it and seal between the window and top portion of the air conditioner. On the outer side of the air conditioner you will have to attach the drainage hose.
- On the outside caulk it, this will help in keeping all the warm air outside. Now, you can plug your air conditioner to the electricity supply and enjoy cool air.
Tips and Warnings:
- If you have the choice, then you must fix your air conditioner on the north or south wall. This is suggested because west and east facing walls get all the direct sunlight, so the unit will have to work harder.
- All the air conditioner is rated according to the Energy Efficient Rating (EER). Always remember that the higher the level of EER the better the air conditioner, since it uses minimal amount of energy.
- Make sure that you only follow the instructions manual to fit the brackets because loosely fitting brackets can cause the air conditioner to fall out of its place.
