How to Install Chain Link Fence

A chain-link fence is a kind of wicker generally prepared from “electrified” or “LLDPE” layered steel wire. It is also termed as a “wire netting”, “chain-wire fence”, “cyclone fence” or “hurricane fence”. The wires sprint vertically and are twisted into a “criss-cross” pattern, so that every “criss” attaches with the wire instantly on one side and each “cross” with the wire instantly on the other. This creates the diamond feature pattern, which is usually found in this kind of fence.

In the United States, fencing generally forms in 30 rod and 60 ft rolls, which can be attached by “unscrewing” at one end of the wires and after that “screwing” it back in so that it connects both pieces. The standard heights of fence includes 3 ft, 3 ft 6 in, 4 ft, 5 ft, 6 ft, 7 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft, and 12 ft, although fences are available in almost every heights.  Standard mesh measures are 9, 11, and 11.5. The most common heights for sports courts like tennis and ball parks are 10 ft high.

The chain-link fence is more popular because of its comparatively low price and easy installation. An additional benefit is that due to the open intertwine, chain-link fences are transparent, and do not block sunlight from any side of the fence. If a semi-opaque fence is preferred, then this can be accomplished by the introduction of planks into the mesh. If you want to install a nice fancy fence, then just follow the following instructions.

Things required:

  • Pliers
  • Fence Stretcher
  • 1/2-inch or 9/16-inch wrench
  • Reciprocating or circular saw with metal cutting blade or pipe cutter
  • Carpenter’s level
  • Strong string and stakes
  • Post hole digger
  • Wheelbarrow, shovel and hose for mixing concrete
  • Tape measure

Instructions:

  • Position the border lines of your ground and make stakes into your property along the expansion of the line of your property. Extend a thread between each stake.
  • Make a post holes 9″ wide and 19″ to 30″ deep, with perpendicular sides, the hole must not incline, it should be completely straight from top to bottom.
  • Now make a spot on the “ground line” on the post by using pastel or colored chalk. Once in the position, the lethal posts must be the height of the material plus two inches.
  • Put posts in concrete with a solution of 2-fractions cement, 3-parts sand and 4-fractions gravel. Make quite a thick solution, as excess water makes concrete weak and mild, it may result in cracking. Posts must be positioned in the hole.
  • Examine the plumb with the level of carpenter, confirming that the color chalk or pastel marks remains at level of ground.
  • While measuring, circlet the entire post of concrete footings for water depleted by inclined concrete away from post.
  • Position and make line posts. Leave it for one day, when the concrete filling becomes toughened for posts to remain plumb, stretched tight between terminal posts. It should be located on the exterior face of the posts, 5″ under the top.
  • Gauge the distance between terminal posts to decide the accurate distance between line posts.
  • Beginning from lethal post, open the chain link material on the ground, along the exterior of the fence line to other lethal post. Push a stress bar from the first line of chain-link. Close the stress bar arrangement to the equally spaced stress bands.
  • Place in fixtures to terminal post and then put in bar end bands. Apply entire post covers to terminal posts and top bar. Move along the material, and position it up against the fence border, taking out the limp as move. Add post pivots to gate post.
  • Extend the material. Put gate in place make parallel top of gate with top of fence. Regulate pivots to permit them for full hang. Make all the bolts tighter.

Tips and Warnings

  • Get used to the fence fittings and their uses.

While deciding the locations of gate post, keep in mind permission for pivots, latches, etc. is counting in the opening
