An Icon is a small representation on the computer display. Icons have been used as and alternative for the standard alphanumeric of the computer display. Recent computers are able to hold bitmapped symbols on the display terminal, so the icons are hugely used to help users. Initially, Icons were invented as a device for creating computer interfaces easier for beginners to hold in the 1970s at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center facility. The icon driven interface was popularized later by the Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows operating settings.
Icons of computer is frequently sorted from ‘15/15 pixels’ to “128/128 pixels”. Few operating systems mark icons up to 515/515 pixels. • To install icons, first of all right click on the accessible application shortcut whose icon you want to change. A dialog box will appear with a variety of option tabs at the top. Go to the “Shortcut” tab to bring up the box where you want to change your icon.
• Select the option that says ‘Change Icon’. This will show the option of default selection of icons from which you can select a new icon. To choose the new icon group, go for the “Browse” option. This will help you to look up your computer for your new icon group. Remember that for an icon group should be capable to work the files should either have an .ICO file extension, a .DLL file ‘extension a collection of multiple icons’ or an .ICL file extension.
• Choose the file from the hard drive that symbolizes your icon set and the icons should now be put in place of the default icons from the earlier display.
• Pick the new icon which you desire to use from the icon set. To do this, simply click on it with your mouse. Click on the ‘OK’ button to confirm your conformation. This will help you to go back to the original ‘dialog box’ for that particular shortcut.
• Hit on the “OK” tab for the last time to change the icon to the one you have selected. After a few minutes the default icon will be vanished and your freshly selected icon set will appear on that place.
