PhpBB is an ‘Internet forum’ program, which is drafted in the ‘PHP’ form of words. The term ‘phpBB’ is a short form of ‘PHP Bulletin Board’. It is commonly accessible under the ‘GNU General Public License’. The phpBB software is free of cost.
PhpBB was invented by James Atkinson as an usual ‘UBB’ kind of forum for the website which was rum by him on June 17, 2000. ‘Nathan Codding’ and ‘John Abela’ worked on the ‘development team’ when ‘phpBB’s CVS’ repository was shifted to’ SourceForge.net’, and job on 1.0.0 began. A full functional, pre-release edition of phpBB was introduced July.
PhpBB 1.0.0 was launched on December 9, 2000, with consequent enhancements to the 1.x code base comes in two more chief installments. The ultimate launch in the 1.x row was phpBB 1.4.4, launched on November 6, 2001. At the lifetime of the 1.x editions, ‘Bart van Bragt’, ‘Paul S. Owen’, previous co-manager of the program, ‘Jonathan Haase’ and ‘Frank Feingold’started working on this project. PhpBB 1.x no longer exists and virtually no websites use it.
On February 2001, phpBB 2.0.x started developing completely from scrape; the goal of the developers for phpBB had outgrown the innovative policy base. ‘Doug Kelly’ was appointed in the team shortly later. After the development and extensive testing, phpBB 2.0.0, dubbed the ‘Super Furry’ edition, which was introduced on April 4, 2002, four days later than intended. In this tutorial you will learn some simple instructions on how to install phpBB.

Things required:
- Internet access
- Computer
Instructions:
- Sign in to your Web site through a ‘FTP’ client. For signing in you will have to enter your user-name and password.
- Download the contents of the phpBB2 folder, which were formed when you enfolded the phpBB set up zip file to the hard drive, to the position which you chose for the forum. This can be the base directory of the Web site or a sub-directory.
- Go to the URL address in the Web browser: ‘http://www.yourdomain.com/phpbblocation/install/install.php’. ‘www.yourdomain.com’ is your domain address and ‘phpbblocation’ is the index to which you have uploaded the phpBB files. If you download them to the base index of the Web site, remove that section of the URL, such as http://www.yourdomain.com/install/install.php.
- Write your database server host-name in the text section. This is generally ‘local-host’, the host without the quotes. If you have committed any mistake, get in touch with your Web hosting provider for the correct host-name.
- Write down the name of the database you formed for phpBB in the ‘Your Database Name’ position.
- Type the user-name of your database and password in their respective text sections.
- Write the email id of the administrator, admin user-name and admin password and confirmation values into their respective positions.
- Select ‘Start Install.’ phpBB will be installed by using the instructions which have been provided you.
- Remove the ’set up’ and ‘Contrib’ phpBB sub-folders straight away by the Web site. Your phpBB is installed now.
Tips and Warnings:
- Form a new email address for the phpBB admin account, that is, unless you want people emailing you at your personal email address.
- Note down the information about the account of your administrator. If you have lost the account information, you will have difficulty in altering the applications of your forum.
- Place the index arrangement as it is when you first unzip the phpBB set up file you uploaded. If you don’t, you cannot set up the forum.
- Your Web host might have sub-standard values for the information you have to provide to the phpBB set up process. If you commit some mistakes, get in touch with the host to confirm that you have the correct information.
