Pink Floyd performed the first ever surround sound concert in 1967 at Games for May, which was held at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. The band had its own quadraphonic speaker system. Here are some simple steps on how to install surround sound

Things Required:
- Surround sound speakers
- Stereo or DVD player or digital tuner
- Speaker wires
- Mounting kits (screws)
- Stud finder
Steps:
- Before installing the surround sound inside your house, you will have to decide a place for the surround sound. If you are going to use 5.1-surround sound, then you will have five satellite speakers and one subwoofer.
- Check out all the speakers and see if its position is already labeled. Depending on the type of speaker system that you have, some of the speakers will be designed to be on the right side or left side. If one of the speakers is larger than the rest, then it should be placed right opposite the entertainment center. Arrange the remaining speakers the way you want it.
- Before mounting the speakers, go and attach the speaker wires to them and to your stereo. If you have a wireless speaker system, switch on all the speakers and the wireless transmitter as well. This will help in connecting the stereo and speakers to one signal. Place a DVD or CD inside the stereo and adjust the sound accordingly.
- Use long screws for mounting speakers on the wall or ceiling. Do not forget to use the stud finder; it helps in ensuring that the wall studs are going in the right place.
- Once you have mounted the speakers, adjust the sound and listen to music or watch movies with surround sound.
Tips and Warnings:
- If the speakers have separate terminals for positive and negative wiring, make sure that you connect the wire to the respective terminal.
- You can use small hooks or a tape to secure the wires of the speaker to the wall or ceiling. It helps in keeping the wires out of the way.
- Be very careful when you are working with the wires as there are chances of electrical shock. Switch off all the power of the speaker and the stereo before you start connecting wires to the speakers.
