How to Make Nachos

Most of the chips are fried, though there are instances when baking works well, and frying will undeniably work. But it’s a lot of fun too, especially if friends are on hand to give you company. Ingredients:

  • 8 to 12 ounces tortilla chips (1 big bag or about the amount of chips from the preceding recipe)
  • 2 cups grated cheddar, Jack, or other mild cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups well-seasoned cooked red, pink, or kidney beans, like Black Beans with Orange
  • Chopped scallions (optional)
  • Chopped jalapeño chilies (optional)
  • 1 cup Fresh Tomato or Fruit Salsa or Salsa

Makes: 6 to 8 servings

Time: 30 minutes with pre-made tortilla chips

Instructions:

  • To make delicious nachos, first of all you will have to heat the oven to 375°F. Meanwhile, warm the beans if you are using them. Now, spread the chips in one layer in a shallow pan with a rim, such as a pizza pan or a baking sheet.
  • Now, you will have to top with the beans if using, then the cheese, and bake until the cheese melts completely, for around 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with the scallion and jalapeno if you are using them and serve immediately with a bowl of salsa on the side.
