Puppy Chow (also known as Puppy Food, or Chex Muddy Buddies) is a chocolate snack intended for people. Puppy chow was discovered in a Mid-Western United States as a chocolate snacks. Puppy chow is also known as ‘Monkey Munch’ and ‘Chewbacca Chew’. There are various recipes with different ingredients for making puppy chow, but at the end they produce the same result, i.e. A dish of ‘melted chocolate and cereal covered with powered sugar’.
The key ingredient for the puppy chow is a cereal, like ‘Crispix’ and ‘Chex’. For making puppy chow you can use any variety of Chex, but mainly rice is very popular for this dish. The cereal ‘Crispix’ is half corn and half rice. The cereal is combined with melted chocolate chips, vanilla, butter and creamy peanut butter. After blending it together, the mixture is coated with powered sugar, generally mixed by stirring it together in a plastic storage vessel. Once it is covered, it can be stored in the fridge or freezer to cool. If you want to make puppy chow, then just follow the instructions mentioned below.
Things required:
• A microwave
• A microwave bowl
• A large bowl
• 2 cup measuring cup
• 1 cup measuring cup
• ½ cup measuring cup
• A teaspoon measuring spoon
• A spoon to stir along
• If you want, you may require a wax paper to rest the puppy chow so that it can cool.
Ingredients:
• A box of Chex, you can use any variety, but corn is most preferred one.
• 1 cup of peanut butter
• 2 cups of powered sugar
• 1 tablespoon of tea vanilla extract
• Margarine or 1 cup butter
• 1 package (7ounces)
• Semi sweet Nestle Toll, 2 cup
Procedure:
• Put 10 cups of Chex cereal in the bucket and keep it aside.
• Place chocolate chips in the microwave. Now, place margarine or butter and peanut butter in the microwave container. Keep it in the microwave for at least for one minute, and then stir.
• Bake it in microwave for around 30 seconds or until the combination can be stirred smoothly. Add vanilla.
• Put chocolate mixture on the top of the Chex cereal in the bucket; stir until the entire mixture is covered with Chex cereal.
• Mix powered sugar in the Chex mixture; place the cover on the bucket of ice and shake carefully.
• Check the mixture to make sure that all the pieces are well wrapped and are set to eat. Handle it carefully, as the mixture will be messy and hot at this point of time.
• If you want you can spread Chex mix on the wax paper to cool. This makes around 10 cups of puppy chow.
• Be careful while mixing the chocolate covering and the rice Chex. If you will stir it with a hard hand, you will probably break or crunch the cereal Chex.
Tips and warnings:
• Place your puppy chow dish in the freezer; they are best when they are frozen. Several cereal pieces will tuft together, and these pieces are really preferred by kids.
