DMG file (an extension for Apple Disk Image) is disk image format proprietary, which is designed commonly to be used with Macintosh OS X. DMG file does not have physical medium to store anything but can be easily burned in a CD or can be sent via the internet.
It is not necessary to save the DMG file in the ‘system’, if there is a need to reinstall then it can be stored. Original CD won’t be required as it will also be available in the hard drive.

Hi,
I have problems with iMac. So I downloaded DasBoot on the second PC. I wont to transfer DasBoot.dmg on the usb stick and use it as boot disk. But I don’t know how to procede. Is it enough just to move downloaded DasBoot to the usb or do I have to open it on PC? Or transfer it on usb and open it there before use it on Mac?
