When you are about to open any lock and you suddenly realize that you have misplaced the keys, you get traumatized. In this situation you only think of one thing, how to open locks. You think of many options of opening lock. Not only the house key, you can also misplace the locker or forget the pin number of your combination briefcase lock. Such situations will come quite often if you don’t take proper care of your things. Following are some of the ways to open locks when you misplace your keys and forget the combinations:
There are different types of combination locks available in market. You need to find the best one. Some of the types of combination locks are given below:
Single-Dial Lock
These are mostly used for safety purpose. You can use this lock for padlocks. For opening a lock with single-dial, you need to rotate the dial clockwise and then for second number rotate it anti clockwise. When you rotate the dial and get the last number of the combination, the lock will open.
Multi-Dial Locks
This type of lock is mostly used for briefcases and bicycles. This lock is hard to open than a single dial combination lock. This lock is secured by a pin, which is to be used for opening locks. In this lock there are notches in a disc with teeth used for the pin.
The best way of opening a combination lock is given below:
- Hold the lock in one hand. See to it that your second hand is free for dialing the pin to open the lock.
- Now change the position of the dial in such a direction where zero number will come under the arrow above the dial.
- When the dial is in correct position, twist the dial clockwise thrice so that the zero will again get the same position below the arrow. Now dial the first number of your pin.
- Then rotate the dial in anticlockwise circle from right to left direction and stop when the second pin number comes below the arrow.
- Then dial the last combination number by rotating the dial on right hand side. Now you only need to pull the shackle to open the lock.
Open locks using credit card:
- Find a credit card, which is large as well as flexible. This will help you to slide it down easily. If you don’t have such a credit card then you can also use some membership card or a gift card, which is broad and flexible.
- Now you need to slide the card in the gap between the door and the frame in which the door is fixed.
- Now tilt the card in such a way that the card should touch the doorknob easily,
- Now forcibly open the lock by bending the card in opposite direction. While doing this, lean on the door so that it will open easily.
Open locks of school lockers:
- First of all you need to clear the previous combination lock so that you can set your new combination pin for the locker. For doing this you need to spin the dial thrice in a clockwise direction. This will clear all previous pin.
- Now for setting a new combination, rotate the dial for the first number and stop in a clockwise direction. Then rotate in anticlockwise direction till you get zero and then again your first pin number.
- Then dial the second pin in the same way by rotating the dial in clockwise direction and then anticlockwise till zero and then the number.
- Now you can just pull the handle and your locker is wide open in front of you.
- If you are not able to open the lock even after continuous efforts, then call the management or your teacher for solving this problem.
