The Opera web browser of version 9.0 was made for saving the web page as an MIME HTML file along with its all resources. In the Opera 9.50 for ‘Save as’ function the saving format by default is MHTML.
Mac Operating System
If MIME files are not recognisable by email programs then they may be decoded with the help of a file-decompression utility. It is seen commonly with an extension .MIM.

The steps to be followed to open MIME file with the help of StuffIt Expander -2009 are as follows:
- 1. Install the StuffIt Expander-2009 correctly on the Mac after downloading it.
- 2. Then double click on StuffIt Expander-2009 to launch it.
- 3. Drag the required files and herewith drop them on the toolbar of StuffIt Expander-2009.
- 4. It will be quickly decompressed and opened by the software and the .MIME files can be opened and browsed. Alternatively if StuffIt Expander-2009 is the ‘compression software’ by default then the files should be double clicked and the “decompress files to current folder” option should be selected.
Mozilla Firefox
An extension is required to be installed in order to read the MIME files by Mozilla Firefox. The examples are the “Mozilla Archive Format” and the “UnMHT”. Both of these are compatible with Firefox 1.0 and other later versions. Both of these extensions can open as well as save the web pages in the form of .mht files.
