How to prevent dark armpits:

  • You should follow proper hygiene of the skin under the arms. This skin is very sensitive and can become dark and have other problems if you do not take proper care of it.
  • While bathing, do not forget to rub soap under your arms and clean it. Do not use too hot water; this can burn the skin tissues.
  • If you have severe under arm sweating problem, you should spray talcum powder under arms or alum powder. Alum powder is very effective in preventing the odor due to sweating as well as sweating. This is a natural remedy, so has no side effects on your skin.
  • If your underarms sweat a lot, they may become unhygienic due to odor of the sweat, so take some measures to prevent the sweaty underarms.
  • Use of perfumed deodorants should be avoided. The chemicals contained in these deodorants are very harsh and can turn the skin under the arms darker.
  • If you are spraying deodorants, it is strictly recommended that you do not spray them directly on the skin, spray them on your clothes.
  • Use soft fabric clothes. If the fabric is not soft and smooth,  it irritates the skin under your arms. This will also make the skin under arms dark. Some fabrics are not suitable to your skin. This will also cause problems, so avoid wearing such clothes.
  • Many of the hair removal creams are harsh. The chemicals contained in them can even burn the skin cells and lead to their pigmentation.
  • Instead of using such hair removal creams to shave your underarms, use wax to shave. This will help you keeping your underarms lighter.
  • Rubbing lime under your arms will also help you. If you feel that your underarms are getting darker, rub a slice of lime on them for few days until they turn lighter. Lime is acidic in nature that will help in lightening the skin as well as help in removal of the dead skin cells.
  • You can also prepare a mixture of rose water, glycerin and limejuice in equal parts. Applying this mixture overnight for few days will also help you in lightening the skin.
  • Vinegar and honey are also found to contain effective skin lightening agents. They can also be used.
  • Do not use alcohol-based antiperspirants on your skin. They will also darken your skin.
  • Do not wear tight fitting clothes or t-shirts. If your clothes are too tight, they can cause irritation; also, your skin will not be able to breathe properly. This will also make your underarms hyperpigmented.

If your underarms are too dark, this makes you feel uncomfortable, and you are unable to wear sleeveless tops because of this, you can go for laser treatment using UV rays. This is an expensive alternative, but effective in helping you get rid of the dark underarms.
