Eating disorder is abnormal eating. Eating more than the limit or eating much less than the limit is an eating disorder. The most common types of eating disorders are bulimia eating, binge eating disorder and anorexia nervosa. Eating disorders are increasing due to modern culture, and need to be prevented by knowing how to prevent eating disorder.

  • It is very important that parents warn their children about the symptoms, signs and dangers of eating disorders. Due to stress in school and some physiological and moral issues in their life, children fall prey to such disorders unknowingly. They get disturbed easily, and this affects their health to a great extent.
  • Try to praise the individuals’ talents and strengths and highlight less on his or her weaknesses. This will increase their confidence and make them have a positive attitude towards life.
  • Discussion with such individuals is also very important. Try to understand their problems and why they are having them. You can then take some necessary steps to solve their problems and fear.
  • If he/she is trying to accomplish some task or pursue some dream, then you should try to help them, so that they gain confidence and also helps them reduce their stress. Your suggestions and support matters a lot for such people.
  • Help them in making new friends and connect with people. Ask them to give some time to pursue their hobbies. This will also help them relieve stress and support them.
  • Excessive exercising should also be avoided. This is also a form of eating disorder in which a person doses excessive exercise to gain a slim and slender body and loses excessive weight.
  • Remind such people that a healthy body does not necessarily mean being slim and having a good figure. Tell them not to exercise so much that they become underweight.
