How to Prevent Hair Breakage

Hair breakage is the most common problem with hair that weakens due to improper care. Hair may also break if it thickens at certain points as compared to the other part of the hair. Everyone would like to have healthy hair after all healthy hair is a sign of good health.   • Avoid combing your hair too often. Brushing your hair excessively and in the wrong way is the most common cause of hair breakage. Use soft bristle brush to comb your hair and do not brush too harshly.
  • Over use of chemicals can also be a cause of hair breakage. Some of the chemicals are very harsh and can cause great damage to your hair. We use many chemicals on our hair in the form of shampoos and conditioners, artificial hair colors, etc. These are harmful to your hair. Use those shampoos and conditioners that do not contain excessive amounts of harmful chemicals.
  • Do not color your hair too often. Hair colors contain many chemicals that can be a reason for hair breakage. Instead of using hair colors you can use henna to color your hair. Mix henna with water to make a paste that can be applied to your hair. Apply it and wash your hair after 20 to 30 minutes. This will give a natural color to your hair and strengthen your hair.
  • Conditioning your hair is very important to make your hair healthy. Instead of using artificial conditioners make use of natural conditioners for your hair. Egg is the best conditioner for your hair. Apply egg albumin on your hair for about 15 to 20 minutes before washing your hair. This retains the shine of your hair and helps in conditioning them.
  • A healthy diet is also very helpful for healthy hair. If you do not supply necessary amounts of proteins, vitamins and minerals to your body then it may affect the health of your hair too. Plan for a regular healthy diet. Eat a lot of proteins in the form of eggs, whole grains and pulses. Vitamins and minerals are found in abundance in green vegetables and fresh fruits. Eat them to prevent your hair from breakage.
  • Avoid exposure to sun. Overexposure to sun is also a reason for hair breakage. When you are going out when it is too sunny, protect your hair wearing a hat or tying a scarf. This gives your hair protection from the harmful UV radiations of the sun.
  • If your hair is not getting enough amount of oil then it may lead to hair breakage. Pay attention towards the tip of your hair. If you notice that the tips of your hair are getting dry then you may probably have the problem of hair breakage. Massage the scalp with oil regularly. This will help in providing oil to the tip of your hair.
  • Wash your hair only twice or thrice a week. Do not forget to massage your hair with oil before washing it. Messaging hair and leaving it overnight or massaging at least two hours will be very helpful. Washing hair frequently deprives the hair from natural oils secreted by the hair follicles and makes it dry leading to hair breakage.
  • Drink lots of water. Drinking water helps in removing toxins and improving the health of your hair. Fruit juices will also help you in strengthening your hair. Drink lots of juices.
  • Stress can also be one of the factors for hair breakage. Sufficient amount of sleep will help you in reducing stress. It is necessary that you take at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily.
  • Protect your hair from pollution. We expose our hair to a lot of pollutants when we go out. These pollutants are very harmful to our hair. Apply a good quality, mild conditioner to your hair. This acts as a protective layer against the harmful pollutants in the atmosphere and prevents the hair from breakage.
  • Exercising will help you in proper blood circulation. Proper blood circulation is very essential to strengthen your hair.
