How to Prevent Myopia

Myopia or shortsightedness is a defect in the eyes, where a person is unable to see clearly. However, wearing a pair of glasses he can visualize things easily, but it is a kind of defect that needs to be prevented by taking some necessary steps. How to prevent myopia:

To prevent myopia you need to take proper care of your eyes. Some of the tips are as follows.

  • A healthy diet is very essential to prevent your eyes from any kind of disorder. Vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin C are some of the essential nutrients that are required for the proper functioning of your eyes.
  • Liver food is very essential for your eyes. They provide most of the necessary nutrients for your eyes.
  • You should also try to do regular exercise. Many physical exercises are also meant for your eyes. They help a lot in improving your vision.
  • Exercise will also help in proper blood circulation. If the nerves of your eyes are not provided sufficient amount of blood, then they do not function well. This can lead to functionality disorders in your eyes.
  • If you are habituated to reading then it is necessary that you create a favorable atmosphere around you such that your eyes do not get strained while reading.
  • Read those books which are printed clearly and read in a place where there is sufficient light. Place the book at a considerable distance from your eyes.
  • You should also go for regular eye check-ups; at least once in every 3 to 4 months.
  • Avoid exposing your eyes to the harmful radiations emitted by televisions and computer systems.
  • If you have to sit in front of the computer systems for a long time at your work place, take breaks after every 30 to 45 minutes and allow your eyes to rest.
  • Do not allow your children to sit glued in front of the television for long time. Children are the most common victims of myopia.
  • Enough amount of sleep is also very essential to relieve the stress on your eyes. If your eyes are strained by working continuously, it is likely that they develop many disorders.
  • Close your eyes and place the fingers of both the hands on your eyes for some time (5 to 10 minutes). This will help in relaxing your eyes.
