How to Prevent Sagging Skin

Sagging skin is caused due to drastic weight loss that causes the wrinkles on the skin look more prominent. We usually diet to loss weigh and look beautiful, but if proper plan is not followed while dieting, it may cost a lot for your skin. Yo-yo dieters are usually the victims of sagging skin. Here are some tips that will help you know how to prevent sagging skin.

Sagged skin looks unhealthy and causes early aging. It will also make the skin loose its luster and gleam. Even when you age, our body passes through many unavoidable physical changes. Aging can also result into loss of hair and graying of hair, wrinkles on the skin, impaired vision, etc. Sagging is also one of the symptoms of aging. Proper physical care is very essential to prevent sagging.

Tips to prevent sagging:

Control weight:

  • Always have a control over your diet. Some people eat a lot for some period and then stop eating or reduce their diet to a considerable amount for some days. Due to this you may have inconsistent weight.
  • When your weight increases, your skin expands and when the weight decreases, you skin contracts. This frequent stretching and contracting of the skin will make the skin lose its stiffness, and the skin starts wilting.
  • Follow a proper diet, rich in nutrition that will meet your body’s requirement and help you maintain a healthy and constant weight.

Keep your skin hydrated:

  • Hydrating the skin drinking gallons of water everyday is very important to prevent the skin form turning scaly and dry.
  • Dry skin is more prone to sagging, so drink at least 8 to 10 glass of water everyday.
  • Fresh fruits are also a rich source of water. Fruits such as watermelon, oranges, and pineapples are rich sources of water. Eat them a lot.
  • Especially in summers, carry a water bottle and some fruits with you wherever you go.
  • Applying the pulp of these fruits on the skin will also help in hydrating the skin.

Do not expose your skin to sun:

  • Overexposure to sun can also make the skin dry, itchy and scaly. Avoid exposing your skin to sun as far as possible.
  • Use high SPF sunscreen lotion to act as a shield for your skin whenever you go out in the sun. A sunscreen lotion with more than 15 SPF is really good for your skin.
  • Look for shady places when you go outside.
  • Use scarves and full-sleeved clothes when going out in the sun.

Exercise:

  • Exercise when done with proper technique and under proper guidance will surely benefit you in preventing sagging.
  • Mild exercises such as walking, swimming, jogging, cycling, etc have many benefits.
  • They will help you in controlling body weight, improves blood circulation and also help in muscle building.
  • If your body is functioning well, you will have a healthy and wrinkle free skin along with a healthy body.
  • Practice exercises that will help you loose weight slowly, rather than exercises that cause huge weight loss in less time.

Take proper skin care while dieting:

  • When you are dieting, it is essential that you take proper care of your skin and muscle tone.
  • When you loose weight while dieting, you loose some of the muscles under the skin and due to this your skin droops. This will happen even if you loose a single pound of weight.
  • Therefore, it is essential that you do muscle toning exercises while dieting, so that you can prevent any adverse effects on your skin due to dieting.

Choose your food carefully:

  • Do not eat fatty food. Fats deposit in your blood stream and muscles. Their deposition in the body cases huge weight gain. This can spoil the texture of your skin.
  • Eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants contained in them are very helpful in rejuvenating the skin.
  • You also get a lot of nutrients from them which help the body to remain in a balanced state. These nutrients in naturally occurring fruits and vegetables are present in balanced proportions as required by our body.
  • Avoid eating junk food.
  • Alcohol and caffeine also causes huge damage to the skin cells. So, avoid injecting them in your body.
  • Eggs and poultry give you dietary proteins in required proportions so eat a lot of them.

Skin care:

  • Proper skin care also plays a vital role in preventing sagging of skin.
  • Exfoliate your skin and keep it clean.
  • When you apply facial masks on your skin, do not allow it to dry for a long time. This will stretch your skin, which eventually loosens the skin.
  • Choose your cosmetics carefully and remove your make-up while you are sleeping in the night.
  • Do not use harsh cosmetics. Take advice from a beautician or a doctor to know the cosmetics that best suite your skin.
  • Use scrubbers to scrub your face and cleansers to clean it.
  • These are the basic skin care tips that your skin needs to keep it in a good conditions for a prolonged period.

Skin sagging can be recovered by surgery, but it will cost too much. There are surgeries for sagging of skin in neck, bladder, breasts, tummy, face, etc. They will help you tighten your skin, but it is always better to take necessary precautions given above and prevent sagging.
