How to Prevent Ticks

Tick bites to your dogs can cause serious diseases to them. Some of the common and serious diseases that are caused to your dogs due to tick bites are Lyme disease, Babesiosis and Ehrichiosis. They can also transmit infections to humans. To prevent tick bites you should know how to prevent ticks.

Many of us love to have pets in the house. Proper pet care is also very essential to keep your pets healthy and free from diseases. It is very easy to take care of your pets and the below methods will surely help you in the same.

Tips to prevent ticks:

  • Keep your dogs clean. Bath them regularly with an antiseptic soap and water. Using lukewarm water will be helpful in preventing the dogs from any kind of ticks and mites.
  • Do not allow your dogs to play for too long in bushes and trees. These places have more ticks.
  • Monitor your dogs regularly. If you find any kind of infections to your dog, take them to the vet immediately and get them treated.
  • If you notice any behavioral change in your dog, then you have to inform the vet and follow proper medications for the dogs. If such things are kept untreated for a long time, then it could lead to more serious problems.
  • Cleanliness in your house also matters a lot in preventing your dogs from tick bites. Keep your living space clean.
  • Do not allow the dogs to play on sofas and beds. Change the bed covers and sofa covers frequently.
  • Do not allow the dogs into your kitchen. They may spread the germs to your food and induce infection to you, if they are infected.
  • There are tick prevention powders available in the market. You can use these powders and prevent your pets from being bitten by the ticks. Spray these powders on your dogs regularly.
  • Allow your dogs to play for some time outside so that they get exposed to the sunlight. Exposing to sunlight for some time will help in killing small insects and ticks present in the fur of your dog.
