Before you replace the airbags

- Now you will have to look for a shop for buying airbag. To get the idea of the airbag look in some car magazines like Truckin, Lowrider or Super Chevy. Go through the yellow pages and look for some exclusive stores for airbags.
- Once you find the shop, try to identify the brands that the shop carries. Ask the shopkeepers about the resistance quality of the airbags that you like. Check if the airbags you liked come with a guarantee or warranty. If you think that the shop is trustworthy, then you can buy the airbags from there.
Replacing the airbag
- The first step for replacing the airbag will be removing the negative cable from the car battery. If you do not remove the negative cable then this would deploy the replacement air bag, and can cause injuries.
- Now, you will have to deactivate the airbag by taking out the fuses from the airbags. Look in your car manual for locating the fuses.
- Start unscrewing the steering column panel and take out the bolts of the airbags on the backside of the steering wheel. After removing the bolts, you will have to pull out the airbag until you start seeing the backside and then unplug the wires.
- Now, replace the airbag inside the wires and then start re-bolting back on the steering wheel. Replace the steering column panels of your car as well.
- Now for replacing the airbags on the passenger side you will have to go through the glove box or from the main dash panel. Take out the glove box by removing the straps of the glove box and undoing the hinges. Unbolt and unplug the airbag, slide it out carefully from the dash, and slide the new airbag inside and re-bolt and rewire it.
- Now you are done with replacing the airbag, so put the glove box or dash panels back inside. Start reconnecting the fuses inside the fuse panel and the negative cable back to the battery once you are done.
