If the damage is moderate and can be controlled then the dentists usually recommend fluoride treatment. This mainly consists of re-mineralizing the teeth by using minerals such as fluoride.
- Cosmetic treatment is one of the popular and common methods of restoration of tooth enamel. This is usually done when the tooth condition is very bad and the enamel is damaged extensively. The treatment is given according to the condition of the tooth. This treatment mainly comprises tooth bonding or placing some bonded composite on some inaccessible tooth areas, dental porcelain veneers, tooth crowns, bridges and also full mouth reconstruction. The cosmetic dentist properly studies the tooth condition and then starts the appropriate cosmetic treatment.
- Avoid eating high acidic food items and drinking soft drinks regularly. Even if you consume such items see to it that you wash your mouth immediately. Brush your teeth without fail after meal and floss them. Do visit your dentist for cleaning your teeth. This helps in preventing decaying of teeth. When you are drinking any acidic or soft drinks see to it that you use straw for drinking. If you use straw for drinking these drinks, then the liquid will go directly into your mouth without touching the teeth.
- Do not snack throughout the day. This also affects the tooth badly. If you are eating the whole day, the acidic formation, which takes place into your mouth when you eat anything is continuously present. This will cause erosion of tooth enamel. Similarly rinse your mouth with water after you eat anything.
- If the enamel erosion is already in process or the enamel is already decayed, then you can use toothpaste that contains fluoride. Fluoride is a substance that helps in forming the enamel again on your tooth. This covering is stronger than the natural enamel and your teeth looks good.
- Another way of restoring tooth enamel is eating sugar free chewing gums after every meal. When you chew these gums, the saliva production in your mouth increases and avoids enamel erosion. However, see to it that the gum that you are chewing is sugar free.
- Similarly, drink ample of water. This will help you to maintain the saliva production and your mouth will not go dry. Usually dry mouth or less production of saliva is a measure reason for erosion of tooth enamel. When you drink lots of water throughout the day, you will not have a dry mouth.
