How to Create a Calendar

A calendar is a system, which is used for organizing days for religious, social, administrative and commercial use. All this is done by the time period, like days, weeks, months, and years. The name by which each is referred by is known as date. The periods in the calendar are not in synchronization with the cycle of the moon or the sun. There are many civilizations who have devised their calendar, they derive it from other calendars on that they base their system, which is suited for their needs.
A calendar is a physical device usually on paper. This is also the most common usage of the word. Other types of calendars are computerized, which are usually set as a reminder for the user for the upcoming appointments and events. Calendars are used as particular set for planned events. The word calendar is derived from the Latin word kalendae, which is also the name of first day of every month in Latin. The entire calendar system has various calendar dates for every day.
The simpler form of calendar just counts the periods of the reference dates. This also applies to the Julian day. The primary use of calendar is just to identify dates. There are also significant dates for civil, social, and religious reasons. Some people use calendars for managing their work schedules, activities and time especially when people have many commitments like work, family and school. In the modern society, written calendars are not an essential part of the system, since the advent of the clocks had made it easier, to record time for astronomical events.
There are various types of calendars. Advent calendar is very popular, this calendar is specially used for celebrating the advent of festivals. Here are some easy steps on how to create an advent calendar.

Things Required:
• 10-foot braided trim in holiday colors
• sequins
• 18 pieces of red felt
• 2-foot red or gold cord
• dark green bath towels
• glue guns, glue sticks
• straight pins
• white fabric paint
• white fur fabric
• scissors
• paper bag
• rulers
• thin black felt tip pens
• dowel rods, about 30 inches long
Steps:
• Take a dark green towel and fold it into half, it should be at least 25 inches tall and 27 inches wide. You will have to glue the edges of the towel with the help of hot glue gun, stop at every 1.5 inches below the fold, which will be the top portion. This will make a pocket for the dowel.
• Take the decorative braid and glue it around the edges on the front side of the towel, which will form a frame. To make a square shape, fix the braid about 2 inches away from the fold. The bottom and the side edges should be at the edge of the towel.
• Now, draw a shape of small Christmas stalking on a brown colored paper bag, and cut out the shape. The size of the paper stocking should be 3.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide.
• Take the pattern and turn it upside down on the felt, and at least trace 25 stockings, with the help of thin black tip pen. Cut out the felt stockings, in sequence and use straight pins to hold the stockings in place.
• One by one apply glue on the backside of the felt stocking, along the outer edges and not on the top edge. Place it on the towel.
• You can decorate the stockings with sequins, 3-D fabric glue, or you can also use fur, this will give your stockings a unique look. Make sure that you do not cover up the number.
• Now insert the dowel from the tunnel, which is at the top of the towel. Carefully tie the ends of dowel that will create a decorative loop for hanging.
• Place one miniature candy cane into the pockets of the stockings. Hang your very own Advent calendar on the wall, and let everyone admire it.
