How to Cover Nicks on Car

Be it a brand new car or a very old car, you are very attached to your car. Any scratches or nicks on your car would be very annoying for you. Especially, if it is your new car, you do not want even a single scratch on your car. A scratch or nick also means huge expenses. However, if you do not want your car with these nicks or scratches, you need to cover these. You can also save on these expenses, and repair the nicks on your car yourself, if you know how to cover nicks on the car. You would need a few materials to start off and your car will be back to normal, without you needing to pay your mechanic for the same.

You need the things mentioned below to cover the nicks on your car:

  • Cotton Cloth
  • Adhesive remover
  • Paint – the color of your car
  • Car Wax
  • Acetone
  • Primer
  • Soap
  • Water
  • Thinner
  • Sandpaper
  • First, check the depth of the nick of your car. Moving your fingers over it, you can make out how deep the nick is. This will determine your repairing action. If the paint of the car has been chipped away by the nick, you will need to repaint it. However, if the metal and primer is chipped, you will have to do a little more.
  • In circular motion, apply the adhesive over the damaged area. Many times, it happens that the object causing nick will transfer its paint on the car. You need to first get rid of this. Rubbing adhesive in circular motion will help remove all the paint marks, plastic and rubber.
  • On a piece of cloth, put soap and water. Rub the nick with this cloth. Then on another piece of rag, put acetone or thinner and scrub the car’s nick. This will completely remove all the transferred paint, and any other material.
  • Next step is buffing the nick. For this, you need a sandpaper or sandbar. Rub it on the damaged surface. This will sand down the damaged area, and help it in leveling it. Try not to damage the primer lever while using the sandpaper. However, if the nick is deep, the primer would be affected, and repairing it completely will be a bit difficult.
  • Using a polish solution, shoe polish, or car wax, polish the car’s nick. For light colored cars, use dark colored polish and for dark colored cars use white polish.
  • After the polish dries up, sand out the remaining or excessive material on the damaged surface. Move the sandbar or sandpaper up and down first and then move it sideways.
  • If the car’s metal can be seen, apply primer on that surface. After applying primer, let it dry, and after it dries you need to smoothen it. For this, again take the sandpaper or sandbar, dip it in water, and rub it over the primer surface in circular motion. Rub it with gentle hands. If you be too harsh, the primer will again come off.
  • After the primer is smoothened, apply the paint on the car. The paint should be similar to your car’s paint. It is better to cover a wider surface with this paint so that you don’t see patches of paints on your car. The color of your car is mentioned in your car’s manual. The shops that repair cars have these paints.
  • After painting it, you need to polish it. On a clean piece of cloth, apply wax or polish, and smoothly rub it over the painted area. Let the paint dry before you use the polish over it. This will bring a shine on it.

These simple instructions will help you cover your car’s nick. If you have damaged someone else’s car, you can fix it before the other person knows it. You do not need many things. Most of these would be available with you. You might just need to buy the right color of paint, and make your car look new again.

These tips can also be used to cover the nicks on other vehicles as well. If there is a nick on your bike, you can follow these same steps to cover the nick. Try using these tips next time if there is a nick on your car or bike.

This article will help you to learn how to wreck your car piece by piece and have the best time of your life.

  • Well, there’s nothing better than getting your door taken off brutally. Open the doors of your car without looking. Do it at a place place, say a zoo, or busy market, grocery store, where your car is bound to get maximum scratches. Get into your skin the habit of opening your car’s door during parallel parking. Think of many similar innovative ides to get your car the ‘scratchy’ look
  • If you are someone who likes a bit of adventure and doesn’t mind to take that occasional risk, take your car on top of a hill or mountain and start going down fast. Ride the brakes entire way down to wreck it up completely. You may also fuse your brakes together on finding a steep enough hill, which will cause your engine to work faster, ultimately taking a toll on your vehicle
  • Here’s one more classic way to learn how to wreck your car. To court serious scratches, just back up you car randomly without even looking where you are heading to.  Depending on what is behind you, it will leave your car with serious dents and can even get it destroyed. Make sure you maintain a good speed for better results
  • To get more fun, and to see your car rust, pour lot of bleach into your car’s gas tank. Bleach being an oxidizer will rust the gas tank within a couple of days. Slowly, like a deadly virus, the bleach will eat up the car’s fuel pipes and finally reach its engine. There are also many important parts in your vehicle that will get destroyed. Furthermore, put bleach into your car’s oil tank, which will dilute your oil and rust every material in the engine. Follow this effective method and your car’s engine will choke up for sure and become useless in a matter of few days
  • Take a bit of risk and drive your car in the area that has been experiencing a flood. Water will cause your car to rust more effectively and faster, and since you can’t see what you are driving on, it’s easier to get your car’s tires punctured. There are chances that you might hit debris, which would leave your drive shaft shattered. One more thing you can do is to remove your car’s oil filter and oil dipstick and let water enter your engine and completely ruin it. If not flood, you can get similar results by driving your car through some shallow pond. But remember, don’t get too excited and dive into a lake or ocean. You are trying to wreck the car, not drown yourself
  • Finally, you can choose to enter a demolition derby. Before competing, make sure to replace your gas tank with one that can be put into the back seat and can hold only 2 gallons. This method will surely wreck your car, but keep yourself safe from any danger

Follow these simple steps and you shall learn the fun-filled and effective ways of how to wreck your car.

How to Wreck your Car

Everyone in their life have an experience of messing up with their cars. Even those guys who consider their cars as their baby have done something to wreck it. We all spend most of the time in youth wishing to own a car. Once we reach adulthood, it becomes our second nature to own a car, but it is no longer exciting. Most of them never realize that they are unknowingly destroying their cars. Some people just love to mess around with their cars and always want to know how to wreck your car?

Here are some simple steps that will guide to various things, which will help you in wrecking your car.

Never using the parking brake

  • If you have noticed,  there is a tiny pedal near your left leg, or a lever present on the right side. Yes, this tiny device, which you fail to use is actually valuable. Whenever you park your car on an incline, or even on steady grounds, without using this parking brake, you are putting the complete stress of your car on the transmission.
  • The only thing that will be holding the transmission of your car is a small pin, which is also known as parking pawl. If you use the parking brake, then you are locking the non-drive wheels along with the drive wheels and taking the stress off the transmission. This will increase the years of your car transmission. However, always remember that you must disengage this brake before you start driving your car.

No complete stop before shifting

  • If you are in a rush and pull out from the parking space and shift directly into drive while your car is coasting backwards. You have added some more months of wear and tear in your transmission within no time. Inside your car transmission there is a complex set of gears, whenever you shift without stopping like that, then you force your gears to work as brakes, which puts a lot of stress in that area. Sometimes you will damage your drive shafts, the thing that gives power to your wheels, by shifting your car in this manner. After sometime, it will cause sloppy suspension handling, and worn out transmission.

Riding brakes down a hill

  • If you are driving on a hill, which goes on for a while, then you must always avoid using brakes often. Try alternating between braking and letting off the brake so that you do not heat up and wear out the brake pads. This is one of the common mistakes, because it will feel like the safest option for maneuvering down the hill. However, if the hill is sufficiently long, you will completely wear out the brake pads.

No oil change

  • Always remember that you must change the car oil after every 5,000 miles. Always remember the more frequent oil changes will increase the life and performance of your car.

Pressure washing engine

  • Many people have this desire of keeping their engine clean. Yes, it does get grimy under the car and a pressure wash is even more dangerous than dirt accumulated in your car. Always remember that grimy engines running are  better than an engine that does not work at all. If you spray a high power water jet on the rubber seals, electrical bits and hoses, then you will end up dislodging most of the things.
  • The modern engine is a complex thing; all the wiring, sensors and components are present in your engine, so it does not make sense in using water jet. Try using a regular hose for cleaning the engine, you just have to be careful about the high pressure.

Starting the car in wrong way

  • This sounds simple, but you can make a huge difference if you turn off the radio, climate control, wipers and all the other accessories whenever you start your car. Maximum engine wear happens when you are starting your car, and if you turn off these accessories, then your engine won’t have to work hard at the start.
  • Another thing that maximum people do is revving the engine during winters. Always remember that this will never help in warming up the engine of your car. Technically, this does warm up your engine, but this is not the kind of warmth that your car needs. Revving your car engine during winters will cause extreme change in the temperature right away and this is not what you want. Whenever you start the car, the oil has not started to work its way through your system, so the engine will be working without lubrication. The correct method is to allow the car to sit idle for 30 seconds to one minute.

Ignoring the car sounds

  • Always keep one thing in mind that, every sound that your car makes means something. If you pay attention closely then you will know, which part of your car needs repairing. If you hear squeaking brakes then you need new pads, and if you still ignore this sound then soon you will start hearing scrapping metal. Therefore, before you manage to completely destroy your car pay attention to all these sounds.

All these things will help you if you wish to wreck your car. However, don’t be stupid to wreck your car, instead try avoiding all these things and give a long life to your car.

How to Replace Car Battery

Here get information on know how to replace car battery. A car battery is a rechargeable battery that is used to give electrical energy to the engine of the car. The car battery is always a SLI battery, which is start, light, ignition. This means that power is supplied to the starter motor, lights and the ignition system of the engine. However, there are lead acid batteries as well, which have a slightly different method of construction, depending on the usage of the battery. The battery that is used in most of the vehicles is the ‘flooded cell’ type, which uses the liquid electrolyte.

Batteries, which are intended for starting, lighting and ignition (SLI) methods are meant for delivering high current in a very short time and have low discharge on every use. They consist of many thin plates, separators between the plates and they have a gravity electrolyte for reducing the internal resistance. Sometimes when these plates stop functioning properly, then you must know how to replace battery.
How to Replace Car Battery
Fluid level

Car batteries that use the lead antimony plates will need regular watering on the top to replace all the water lost during the electrolysis during every charging cycle. Most of the modern car batteries have reduced their maintenance requirements and will not have caps for additional water on the cells. These batteries usually have an extra electrolyte above the plates for additional losses during battery life. If the liquid level in electrolyte drops too low, then the plates will be exposed to air, lose capacity and will be damaged.

Charge and Discharge

There are various methods for charging the battery of your vehicle. The best way for charging the battery is trickle charging. In case of emergency, you can use a hand portable battery booster. If the car charge system is incapable or slow to charge the battery, then you can use a battery charger.

Storage

If you have stored your battery for a long time, then you need to monitor it from time to time and keep it charged. Batteries that are stored should be fully charged, cleaned from the corrosion depositions, and kept in a cool and dry place.

However, in spite of maintaining the battery and keeping it in a safe place there are many chances of battery failure. Some of the common reasons for battery failure are shorted cell, broken internal connections, broken plates, low electrolyte or broken terminals. Sometimes due to hydrogen and oxygen inside the battery there can be battery explosions as well and the acid from inside will spread everywhere. Therefore, it is always advised that one must change his or her car battery from time to time before it goes too bad. Replacing battery is not a difficult thing here are some easy steps on how to replace battery.

Things Required:

  • Screwdriver
  • New battery
  • Wire brush
  • Combination wrench
  • Socket and ratchet
  • Anti-corrosion solution
  • Battery-cleaning solution

Steps:

  • The first step for replacing the battery will be switching off the engine, opening the hood and trying to locate the battery. Next, you will have to detach the negative battery cable from the battery; this cable will be black in color. First, you will have to loosen the nut with a combination wrench. A better tool than this would be a battery wrench or battery pliers.
  • The next step will be twisting and pulling out the end of the cable with the help of your hand. If it does not come out, then you will have to buy a battery terminal puller from the local store of auto parts. This will avoid any kind of damage on the battery or on the cables. Always remember that you must not use a screwdriver like a pry-bar, this will break the battery terminal or cause some other kind of damage.
  • Remove the positive red battery cable from the battery, which you will be using for the similar method. Always remember that while replacing the battery you should be using a combination of socket or wrench, take out the battery and hold it down with the help of the clamp.
  • Now, remove the battery out of the battery tray. Keep in mind that the batteries will be heavy, so hold them from bottom with the help of both the hands. If your battery has a handle then you can use that.
  • Take some baking soda along with water, take a wire brush for cleaning the corrosion from the battery tray, and continue to hold the clamp down.
  • During the process of replacing the battery, you will have to clean the battery cable connectors with the help of a wire brush. To take out heavy corrosion from the connectors, you will have to use battery-cleaning solution.
  • Replace the battery, place the new one in the battery hold-down tray, and secure the new battery with a hold-down clamp. You will have to spray both the terminal ends with anti-corrosion solution. Tighten and attach the positive cable to the battery, remember to attach the negative battery cable as well. Make sure that all the cable connectors are tight. If you start moving them all, then your car will not start.

Tips and Warnings:

  • While replacing the battery always remember that battery acid is extremely corrosive, so you must not let it splash out. Be careful not to spill any of that on your hands, clothing or body or car paint also.
  • The old battery will never go in the regular trash. You will have to take it to a facility, which accepts hazardous materials for recycling purpose. If possible then you can give the old battery to the auto parts store as well.
  • When you are replacing the battery, make sure that you have connected the wires in the right battery terminal or you will damage your vehicle.
