Lip gloss, is a cosmetic which is used basically to give lips a meekly glossy gleam as well as subtle color. There are two types of lip gloss: liquid and soft solid. Lip gloss is available in different shades such as translucent, plain, various shades of murkiness, glitter, metallic color. Lip gloss is totally different from the lip balm as it has some medicinal purpose.

In year 1930, lip gloss was discovered by “Max Factor”. “X-Rated” was the first viable lip gloss launched in 1932 by Max Factor. This X-Rated lip gloss sold till 2003. There are countless discoveries of max factors such as lipstick and mascara, even the word makeup was discovered by them.  The only reason behind the invention of lip gloss was to make lips glossy or shiny for the films.

There are lots of varieties of lip gloss and they come in different forms, liquid lip gloss comes in a tube and it is applied with a lip brush. Solid lip gloss comes in boxes.  Plumping is new kind of lip gloss; it has an ingredient which makes lip look softer and plumper. Primarily, lip gloss is a “cosmetic”, however, some brand offers lots of varieties like moisturizing and protections from foreign material (dust, pollutions). Some of the lip glosses now days have a SPF CONTENT to protect your lips from the sun rays.

The very first advertisement of lip gloss (containing sun block) has done by “Lillian Gish”. “Lip smackers” was the first flavored lip gloss and it was introduced 1973 by “Bonne Bell”.

Lip gloss from petroleum jelly:

• For petroleum jelly lip gloss you will need, Vaseline petroleum jelly, milk powder and extract (like fruit, flower extract).

• Put Vaseline and milk powder together in a small jar or bowl
• Place bowl in microwave for at least 15 seconds.
• Then add some fruit or flower extract in the mixture.
• Stir mixtures together
• After stirring, keep it in fridge for about 5 to 10 minutes
• Once it gets thick remove it from the fridge
• Use your freshly made lip gloss and enjoy

Let’s have a look at the recipe of apple flavor lip gloss.

• To make apple lip gloss you will need
• Apple essence oil about 5 ml
• Almond oil (sweet almond) around 5 ounces
• Vegetable glycerin about 3 ounces
• Vitamin E oil around 12 drops

• Put sweet almond oil with apple essence oil and vitamin E all together in a glass jar, mix them properly.
• Now add liquid glycerin in it and blend it gently and properly. Pour the product in a small glass container and seal it.
• Your apple flavored lip gloss is now ready.
