A waterfall is the fall of rapid water in a downward, a waterfall is usually on a cliff or a region. A waterfall is river water flowing from a large step, between the rocks, which has been formed by a fault line. The velocity of the water increases near the edge, and it picks all the material from the riverbed. This process leads to deeper carving bywater. The rock stratum which is right below the more resistant shelf is soft, which means that undercutting due to splash back occurs here. This splash back results in a shallow cave like formation behind the waterfall, which is known as plunge pool or rock shelter.

The streams are wide and shallow right above the waterfalls, this happens due to the waterfall above the rock shelf, and the kinetic energy of water. Waterfalls are formed in rocky areas due to erosion. Waterfalls are grouped into ten classes based on their volume, amount of water and the fall by using a logarithmic scale. The waterfalls, which are classified in this group, are Paulo Afonso Falls, Niagara Falls, Khone Falls. There are other well-known waterfalls are Kaieteur, Victoria Falls, and many more.

One can make a beautiful waterfall in their backyard. Here are some steps on how to create a waterfall.

Things Required:

20 gallons of black or blue handled muck/tub bucket

small piece of watercourse piece from Lowers or other garden store

1 landscaping brick

1 small fountain pump

scissors

3 ft of tubing, which will match the diameter or your pump

small bottle of water decholorinater

1-2 bags black mulch

10 flagstones or other irregular flat paving stones.

2 small flat rocks about 3/4 ‘1’ thick.

Small potted plant or other heavy flat bottomed garden ornament

Hammer

Disposable plastic one gallon pot

Outdoor extension cord

Steps:

Select a place for your waterfall. For a small waterfall, it is very easy to create a landscape if it is next to fence or wall. If you are planning to plant some water plants in it, then you will require placing the waterfall in sunny place.

Cut the rope from each handle on your tub, from the middle and pull the ends out. Dig a hole, which is wider than the tub and place the tub inside the hole. You will have to fill back the hole besides the tub, so that the dirt gets packed.

Place the landscaping bricks according to the length hole of the tube. This will act as the level base and the top layer of the waterfall.

Set the piece for watercourse aside on the brick, and the spout should extend at least 4 inches over the tub. Cover all the dirt around the watercourse, so only the rim is visible. Use enough sand and brick to hold it in the place.

Open the fountain pump package. Attach the tube to it. Fill the entire tub with the help of hose and place a plastic pot upside down on the tub, and allowing it to fill, so that it sinks. The pot will help the pump settle down. Cut down the tubing so that the end will reach the water and the back course. Take some dirt and mulch and make the surface of watercourse flat.

Now you will have to place two stones on both the sides of the tubing, and a flagstone across them. This will prevent the tube from flattening and the water will flow freely, so the waterfall will run fine. If the tube gets jammed, it will put a lot of strain on the pump, and it may burn the pump. For decoration, place a potted plant on top of the paving stone. Plug the pump cord in an outdoor switch. Pay close attention to the water level, and make sure that the water falls into the right place.

Place some small plants around your waterfall. Do not forget to add dechlorinator. After some days, you can also add some water plants, especially plants that act as oxygenerators such as hornwort.

Now you can sit back and enjoy your waterfall!
