We will look at two main problems here and tell you how to fix them in easy steps.
No picture problem
It might happen sometimes that you turn your ps3 on and no picture appears on the screen. Don’t panic; this could be due to a number of reasons and can be fixed easily. We will take a look at the reasons due to which you get the no picture problem and tell you how to fix them:
- Faulty connection: Most often, the cause of no picture would be that the cords are loose. Make sure you plug them in tightly and ensure that the cords you are using are new.
- Wrong settings: Check your video output settings. If you are using A/V cords and your ps3 thinks otherwise then you will face the no picture problem. Therefore, ensure that the ps3 setting match the type of cable you are using for connections.
- Wrong resolution setting: If your ps3 has been set up with an HDTV and you suddenly plug it to a standard TV, then no picture will come up on the screen. Ensure that you switch the settings according to the TV unit you are using.
- Other problems: Sometimes you may get some picture on the screen, but it is distorted when you play Blue Ray Discs or DVDs. This happens when you are connecting your ps3 to the TV using a VCR and the copy-protection feature in the VCR prevents proper display of picture on the screen. Try plugging your ps3 directly in the TV and the problem will be solved.
Yellow light of death
The yellow light f death problem occurs mostly because of some hardware failure, dust, overheating or even loose cables. Follow these steps mentioned below to fix this problem:
- If the yellow light of death problem occurred while you were playing on your ps3, move the ps3 unit to an area with a lot of ventilation and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Try turning it back on once it has cooled and see if it is working properly or not. If the problem has not been fixed, read on.
- Unplug all the cables that connect your ps3, including the main power cable and the A/V cord. Now, plug them back in one by one and secure them tightly. Turn on the ps3 and check if it functioning properly. If not, then go to the next step.
- Take out your vacuum cleaner and fit the hose attachment to it. Use it to clean out the dust from the vents on the system. You can also use cans of compressed air to take out the more stubborn pieces of dirt. This should solve the problem.
If none of the above-mentioned solutions work, it means that there is some serious problem with your ps3 and you will have to send it to a repair shop.
