Tire chains, also known as “Snow chains” are machines that are attached to the vehicles tires to gives highest grip while driving through ice and snow.
Tire chains are affixed to the front wheels of the vehicle. Chains are commonly vended in pairs and should be obtained to go with a specific size of tire, such as the diameter of tire and width of the tread. Driving vehicles by using tire chains will decrease fuel efficiency and can restrict the speed of the vehicles to around 40 km per hour (20mph).

In snowy environment, transport authorities need snow tire chains to be set up on vehicles. The tire chain can be used to all type vehicles, or for those which lack particular purpose combinations, like four-wheel vehicles or detailed categorizations of tires.

Confined necessities can be imposed at the checkpoints. Tire chains must be fitted to more than one drive axis of a vehicle, with various necessities for “dual-tire” or “multi-driven-axle”. vehicles which categorize from ‘one pair of tires on a driven axle’ to ‘all tires on all driven axles’ being compulsory to have tire chains fixed when weather and signage need it.

The law, regarding the authenticity of the use of tire chains, varies significantly. Most of the authorities may need their use in specific weather conditions or during particular months of the year, at the same time as other states or authorities may forbid their use altogether to protect the floor or surface of the roads. In this tutorial we will see how to install tire chains.

Instructions:

First of all decide, what is the drive of you car, is it has “front-wheel drive” or “rear-wheel drive”. Tire chains always tied up with the driving wheels.

Go through the manual of your owner for any kind of suggestion “class S” or restricted authorization for tire chains. If the tires require a restricted authorizations product, then you can consult the manual for the extra information, as traditional chains are not suggested for your car.

Drag totally off the road and out of the traffic.

Put the “emergency brake” and switch off the engine before you go below the car. Travelers can wait in the vehicle or stay at any safe place away from traffic.

Put down the chains flat on the floor so all side is equivalent. Check if there any bends in the links.

Wrap the chains around the back tire of the vehicles, maintaining the “speed hook” fastening on the inside. Another side of the chains has a handle fastener with a “keeper” connection.

Check if the level side of the cross member end catches is lying against the tires. You will identify these parts of vehicles when you will see the chains.

Go behind every tire and close the speed clutch by putting in the “J hooks” through the third connection from another end of the chain. Drag the loose toward the external edge of the tire.

Drag the car forward quite a few feet and drag the rest of the loose toward you. Put the “lever fasteners” through the third connections from the opposite ends of the external chains and spin around the levers back on themselves, then close them in the keeper connections.

Drive the vehicles forward quite a few feet, then drag all the loose out of the chains and close them again as tightly as you can. There will be around same number of loose connections on all side of the chains.

Lock up these additional connections by using “zip ties”, or take away them by using “bolt cutters”.

You can use the rubber tighteners to extend the life of the chains.

Tips and Warnings:

Tire chains typically are not requiring for “4×4s” and “sport vehicles”, apart from in places where they are essential by law. Confirm traffic rules of your area and be careful of exceptions for extraordinarily harsh climates.

You can employ a synthetic tarp or water-resistant material to protect yourself from grime and dirt while installing tire chains.

Drivers must not go beyond the greatest speed which is suggested on the tire chain kit or in the instructions.
