An address is a piece of information, presented in a fixed format, which is used for describing the location of a building, apartment, or any other kind of structure. It can also be used for describing political boundaries and names ofstreets. Some addresses have a specific code for routing the mails and packages, like the ZIP code or postal code. Addresses have many functions like:

  • It gives a means by which one can locate a building, especially in a place where there are many streets and buildings.

Steps:

  • To address the envelope you will have to print the return address on the upper left corner of the envelope. Make sure that you do this neatly.
  • Now start writing the sender’s name or the company’s name on the first line of the address.
  • After the name, add the sender’s street address or the post box number that you have.
  • You will have to include the mail stop numbers for the mail distribution in a large company. Mention the apartment or suite number on the next line.
  • Write the city name and give a space; write the two lettered capitalized state abbreviation along with the ZIP code on the third line.
  • If required, add the country name in capital letters on the next line.
  • Write or take a print out of this mailing address, and stick it in the center of the envelope.
  • Now attach the proper postage stamp on the upper right side corner of the envelope.

Steps:

  • Start by writing the heading and address on the letter. If you are planning to write a handwritten letter, handwrite the address.
  • Write the recipients name in the way he/she uses it. Write the return address on the top right corner.
  • Mention the date on your letter. If it is an informal letter, you can simply write the day, like Friday and place this below the return address. For a formal letter, you should write the complete date.

Now write the name and complete the address with all the required information like ZIP code, street name, road number etc. Make sure that you do not forget to stick the appropriate postage stamp.
